Contract Specialist

This role requires skilled Federal Contracting Specialists (GS-09, GS-11, GS-12) to manage and execute procurement activities within the DoD.

• *Key Requirements:**
• **Education:**

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is generally required. * *Exemption:* Current DoD civilians or military members in equivalent contracting roles prior to October 1, 2000, may be exempt. * Foreign degrees must be evaluated by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).

• **Specialized Experience (One year at the next lower grade level or equivalent):**

* **GS-09:** Experience in contracting methods and basic price/cost analysis. * **GS-11:** Experience in negotiating, awarding, and modifying contracts; developing terms and conditions. * **GS-12:** Experience in negotiating, awarding, modifying contracts; administering terms and conditions; and addressing performance issues.

• **Time-in-Grade (for current Federal employees):**

* **GS-09:** Must have served 52 weeks at GS-07 or higher. * **GS-11:** Must have served 52 weeks at GS-09 or higher. * **GS-12:** Must have served 52 weeks at GS-11 or higher.

• **Core Competencies:** Demonstrated proficiency in Contracting/Procurement, Influencing/Negotiating, and Planning and Evaluating.
