Contract Specialist

• *Key Responsibilities (Vary by GS level):**
• Manage various contracting actions, from pre-award to post-award.
• Ensure compliance with applicable contracting principles, laws, statutes, regulations, and procedures.
• **GS-12:** Apply comprehensive contracting principles to award and administer complex contracts for diverse goods and services.
• **GS-11:** Coordinate prime and subcontractor performance on complex, long-term contracts, demonstrating familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) based methods and administration policies.
• **GS-09:** Perform fundamental contracting functions related to both pre-award and post-award requirements.
• *Qualifications:**
• *1. Basic Contracting Requirement:**
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution; or
• Current civilian DoD employee or Armed Forces member who occupied an 1102 position, contracting officer position, or comparable military contracting position with authority to award or administer contracts above the simplified acquisition threshold on or before September 30, 2000.
• *2. Specialized Experience (Minimum one year of experience directly related to the position):**
• **For GS-12:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent, demonstrating expertise in applying contracting principles, laws, and procedures to perform various contracting actions.
• **For GS-11:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent, showing familiarity with FAR-based contract methods and administration, including policy, procedures, techniques, and evaluation methods for complex contracts.
• **For GS-09:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent, involving basic contracting functions related to pre-award and post-award requirements.
• *Note:** All qualifying experience, including volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, professional organizations), will be credited towards your qualifications.
