Job Description

Summary

Oversee and manage federal construction projects, ensuring quality, safety, schedule adherence, and risk mitigation as a GS-12.

We are seeking a qualified candidate for a GS-12 position focused on construction project oversight.

Requirements:

Applicants must meet United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualification requirements for a GS-12 level position. A minimum of 52 weeks (1 year) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service is required.

Specialized experience must demonstrate:

  • Leading and/or providing oversight, direction, and coordination for construction projects, including renovations, infrastructure improvements, and building upgrades.
  • On-site collaboration with construction teams to plan and coordinate projects, enforce safety, maintain schedules, and uphold quality standards.
  • Coordinating quality control inspections and ensuring project scope completion.
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks through construction document review and scope of work adjustments.

The Architect of the Capitol is the federal agency responsible for the maintenance, operation, development, and preservation of the United States Capitol Complex. It is an agency of the legislative branch of the federal government and is accountable to the United States Congress and the Supreme Court. Both the agency and the head of the agency are called "Architect of the Capitol". The head of the agency is appointed by a vote of a congressional commission for a ten-year term. Prior to 2024, the president of the United States appointed the architect upon confirmation vote by the United States Senate, and was accountable to the president.
