Computer Scientist (GS-14)

Overview:

Seeking an experienced Computer Scientist to lead advanced IT research, design innovative solutions, and develop robust software and infrastructure for complex organizational challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct advanced research in AI, emerging technologies, or scientific phenomena to solve complex IT problems.
• Design, develop, program, debug, document, maintain, and reengineer software programs.
• Apply theoretical computer science foundations and mathematical/statistical principles to analyze system requirements and devise solutions.
• Ensure quality deliverables throughout the infrastructure design and implementation lifecycle.
• Serve as an IT architect, designing solutions to meet business needs.
• Perform technical analysis and propose effective resolutions.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• One year of specialized experience (equivalent to federal GS-13) demonstrating professional competence in applying computer science theory to solve complex IT problems, including advanced research, software development, and system design.
• Proficiency with Red Hat Linux operating system and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).
• Experience with JBoss application server and Java EE technologies (e.g., Servlets, SOA, web services, JSP).
• Experience with at least two of the following: SiteMinder infrastructure design, Oracle DB engineering, MQ Series integration, SMS Messaging, or SAN storage capacity assessment.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of these 30 semester hours must include statistics and mathematics with differential and integral calculus.
