Computer Engineer

This role requires a highly experienced engineer with deep expertise in information systems. You will lead complex projects, apply advanced design principles, and provide critical recommendations for service-wide information systems.

• Participate in resolving mission-critical, agency-wide issues.
• Develop service-wide information systems and provide strategic recommendations.
• *Qualifications:**
• *Basic Requirements (All Grades):**
• **Education:** A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; or a degree including differential/integral calculus and advanced courses in five of seven engineering science/physics areas (statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical fields, nature of materials, or comparable).
• **or Combination of Education and Experience:** College-level education, training, or technical experience providing thorough knowledge of physical/mathematical sciences underlying engineering and a practical understanding of engineering sciences. Demonstrated by one of the following:

* Professional registration (Engineer Intern, Engineer in Training, or Professional Engineer). * Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or equivalent written test for professional registration. * At least 60 semester hours in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, acceptable towards an engineering program. * A Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field (e.g., engineering technology, physics, computer science) plus at least one year of professional engineering experience under supervision, or intensive training/prior engineering-type experience.

• *Specialized Experience (GS-15):**
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 federal grade level.
• Demonstrated mastery and technical understanding of fundamental principles in professional engineering and scientific disciplines related to researching, designing, and developing integrated computer hardware/software information systems.
• Expert knowledge of systems design principles and development methodologies.
• Expert knowledge of information systems practices including applications development, systems integration, telecommunications, database management, security, and software engineering.
