Summary
American University seeks a student Communications Assistant to manage graduate program outreach, events, and digital platforms.
The School of International Service (SIS) seeks a part-time Communications Assistant to support graduate program communications. This position is exclusively for currently enrolled American University students who are enthusiastic about community building and strategic communication.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Plan and promote department events (e.g., lectures, recruitment sessions, open houses).
- Manage and update graduate program website content.
- Assist in designing promotional materials and newsletters.
- Support outreach to prospective students and the broader academic/public community.
- Respond to or redirect student email inquiries.
- Promote department programs and build networks with students, alumni, and faculty.
- Track analytics and engagement metrics for digital outreach.
- Provide general administrative support.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- Currently enrolled American University student.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks.
- *Position Details:**
- **Hours:** Part-time, 10-20 hours per week.
- **Work Location:** 0-50% remote work, with occasional evening in-person or virtual event attendance.
- **Compensation:** $17.95 - $22.00 per hour.
