Summary
Manage and oversee ancillary testing programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, quality control, and providing expert technical guidance.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Ancillary Testing Coordinator) GS-12 plays a critical role in managing and overseeing all aspects of ancillary testing programs for the VA. This position ensures regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and provides expert technical guidance across various off-site facilities.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for ancillary testing services.
- Ensure ongoing CLIA license compliance for all off-site testing facilities, including Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
- Consult with clinical leadership to identify testing needs and integrate emerging technologies.
- Serve as a primary technical expert, offering authoritative advice, training, troubleshooting, and quality assessment for ancillary testing.
- Create and disseminate technical bulletins, procedures, and training materials.
- Guarantee full accreditation and compliance with all regulatory agencies for patient testing, results reporting, and proficiency testing.
- Monitor and report on continuous performance improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate ancillary testing activities to ensure day-to-day adherence to protocols.
- Identify, define, and resolve complex data and program-related issues.
- Perform instrument evaluations, conduct validation studies, and recommend policy changes.
- Develop and implement corrective actions for identified deficiencies.
- Coordinate inventory management, supply acquisition, and associated contracts.
- *Requirements:**
- **Citizenship:** Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- **Education:** Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- **Certification:**
- **Experience:** One year of creditable experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
- **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):**
- **Physical Requirements:** Ability to perform intermittent moderate lifting (15-44 lbs), light carrying, walking, standing, bending; strong cognitive function in a fast-paced environment; emotional stability; and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
