Job Description

Summary

Senior Pharmacist leading national, VISN, or facility-level VA pharmacy programs, overseeing operations, staff, and ensuring compliance.

This senior-level Pharmacist position (GS-14) involves leading critical pharmacy programs or services within a VA medical facility or at a national/VISN level.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Lead and manage national, VISN, or facility-level pharmacy programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Coordinate multiple pharmacy service programs, overseeing resource utilization and budget management.
  • Develop and implement operational programs based on regulatory and quality standards.
  • Direct pharmacy staff, including personnel selection, assignment, and mentorship.
  • Formulate objectives, establish priorities, and implement plans consistent with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with federal agencies and external healthcare organizations (for program manager roles).
  • Ensure staff development, training, and participate in academic affiliations.
  • *Requirements:**
  • **Education:** Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) from an ACPE-accredited institution. Foreign graduates require FPGEC Certification.
  • **Licensure:** Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
  • **Experience:** Minimum one year of professional experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in pharmacy.
  • **Citizenship:** U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • **Language:** Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • **Required Submissions:** Transcripts, FPGEC Certification (if applicable), and a copy of your current pharmacy license must be submitted with your application.
  • *Key Skills:**
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for complex clinical and technical issues.
  • Ability to persuade, gain cooperation, and manage multiple programs or people.
  • Proficiency in utilizing resources and applying regulatory and quality standards.
  • Leadership ability to plan, organize, and direct pharmacy staff functions.
  • *Preferred Experience:**
  • Clinical Contact Center Supervisory experience.
