Job Description

Summary

Lead strategic library collection management, staff, and programs to enhance access, development, and community engagement.

This leadership position is crucial for overseeing complex library collection management and access programs, driving strategic initiatives, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Lead and manage a diverse workforce, encompassing staffing, performance evaluations, professional development, and productivity enhancement.
  • Direct complex collection management and access programs, including inventory, security, facilities, space management, budgetary oversight, and contract administration.
  • Develop and implement strategies for organizing, digitizing, and enhancing the accessibility of collections.
  • Apply advanced library science principles to establish collection priorities, improve the research experience, and lead collection development, acquisition, and outreach initiatives.
  • Analyze and resolve complex organizational and operational problems, developing innovative procedures, practices, and justifying program advancements.
  • Lead and inspire change, promoting new ideas, resolving contentious situations, and gaining support and commitment from stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with scholars, the publishing community, and library professionals to further institutional goals.
  • Communicate effectively in various settings, actively listening and articulating ideas and recommendations to diverse internal and external audiences.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • Proven leadership experience in managing teams and driving organizational goals.
  • Expertise in collection management and access programs, including budget, contracts, and project management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of library science principles.
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of solving complex operational challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire change and foster a culture of growth.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
