Job Description

Regulatory Policy Biologist/Physical Scientist: Analyze, develop, and advise on complex environmental, energy, and ecological policy issues.
This role requires a Biologist or Physical Scientist to apply scientific expertise to complex regulatory policy challenges, focusing on environmental, energy, and ecological outcomes. **Key Responsibilities:** * Utilize qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to identify and resolve complex regulatory policy problems. * Develop practical and innovative alternatives to identified policy issues. * Draft and advise staff or senior officials on regulatory policy, legislative, or budget matters. * (GS-14 only): Collaborate on interagency or interdepartmental reviews of regulatory policy, including environmental science, ecological, or public health issues. **Minimum Requirements:** * **Basic Education (choose one):** * **Physical Scientist (1301):** Degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics (including 24 semester hours in physical science/related engineering science) OR equivalent education/experience. * **Biologist (0401):** Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines OR equivalent education/experience. * *Unofficial transcripts are required with your application.* * **Specialized Experience (One year at the next lower grade level equivalent):** * **GS-13 Level:** Experience in qualitative/quantitative analysis for complex regulatory policy issues, developing alternatives, and drafting/advising staff on policy, legislative, or budget issues. * **GS-14 Level:** (In addition to GS-13) Experience advising senior officials and collaborating on interagency/interdepartmental regulatory policy reviews. *All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.*
