Job Description

Summary

Inspect and evaluate air carrier avionics systems, enforce regulations, and ensure organizational compliance as an Aviation Safety Inspector.

Join our team as an Aviation Safety Inspector, Air Carrier Avionics (1825 series), ensuring the highest standards of aviation safety.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Inspect and evaluate avionics systems on 14 CFR Part 121 aircraft and their components.
  • Assess and approve proposed changes to authorized organizational programs.
  • Plan and conduct comprehensive inspection programs.
  • Verify organizations meet regulatory requirements for staffing, equipment, training, record-keeping, facilities, and procedures.
  • Conduct enforcement investigations and prepare detailed final reports and recommendations.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • *Experience:**
  • One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to FG-13/GS-13 level in an Aviation Safety Inspector (Avionics) role.
  • Hands-on experience with the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of installed avionics systems on aircraft.
  • Avionics maintenance experience on aircraft with a maximum certificated takeoff weight of over 12,500 pounds.
  • Recent (within the last 3 years) aircraft avionics work experience (including supervision or auditing) in a repair station, air carrier repair facility, military repair facility, or government agency. (Recency requirement waived for current FAA 1825 series employees).
  • Avionics experience on 14 CFR Part 121 aircraft.
  • *General Requirements:**
  • Valid State driver's license.
  • Fluency in the English language.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Not more than two separate incidents involving Federal aviation regulations violations in the last 5 years.
  • No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance.
  • *Medical Requirements:**
  • Good distant vision in each eye (glasses and contact lenses permitted).
  • Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aid permitted).
  • No physical condition that would cause a hazard to self or others, or interfere with flying as a passenger in various aircraft.
