Summary
Ensure aviation safety and compliance for air carrier operations through inspections, investigations, and pilot certifications.
Join our team as an Aviation Safety Inspector specializing in Air Carrier Operations, ensuring compliance and safety standards within the industry.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Coordinate technical instructions, policy orders, and procedures with Principle Operations Inspectors (POI).
- Conduct enforcement investigations, preparing comprehensive reports and recommendations.
- Perform re-examinations of certificated airmen to verify competency.
- Investigate public complaints, congressional inquiries, and aircraft incidents/accidents.
- *Qualifications:**
- *General Requirements:**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid State driver's license.
- Fluent in the English language.
- No more than two Federal Aviation Regulation violations in the last 5 years.
- No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that would interfere with job performance.
- *Medical Requirements:**
- Physically able to perform duties safely and efficiently.
- Good distant vision in each eye and ability to read printed materials (glasses/contacts permitted).
- Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aids permitted).
- No physical conditions posing a hazard or interfering with flying as a passenger in various aircraft.
- *For roles requiring participation in aircraft operations:*
- *Air Carrier Operations Specific Experience:**
- Minimum 1 year of pilot experience in multi-engine aircraft with a maximum certificated takeoff weight exceeding 12,500 pounds.
- Demonstrated professional flying skill via a simulator check to Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) standard.
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate or a Commercial Pilot Certificate with an instrument airplane rating.
- Minimum 100 flight hours within the last 3 years.
- Minimum 1,500 total flight hours.
- Not more than 2 flying accidents in the last 5 years where applicant's pilot error was involved.
- *Note:* Recency of specialized experience is waived for current FAA employees in the 1825 series.
- *Specialized Experience:**
- At least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the FG/GS-12 level (or pay band H).
- This includes experience in coordinating technical instructions/policies, conducting enforcement investigations, re-examining certificated airmen, and investigating aircraft incidents/accidents.
