Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Aviation Safety Inspector (Operations) with a focus on general aviation. This role involves critical oversight, ensuring compliance and promoting safety through rigorous inspection, certification, and surveillance activities.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Conduct extensive certification, inspection, and surveillance activities within General Aviation Operations.
  • Apply aviation laws and regulations to inspection, investigation, enforcement, and compliance tasks.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • *General Requirements:**
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid State driver's license.
  • Fluency in the English language.
  • No more than two separate incidents involving Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) violations in the last five years.
  • No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance.
  • *Medical Requirements:**
  • Physically able to perform the duties of the position safely and efficiently (with or without reasonable accommodation).
  • Good distant vision in each eye and ability to read typewritten characters without strain (glasses/contact lenses permitted).
  • Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aid permitted).
  • No physical condition that would pose a hazard to self or others, or interfere with flying as a passenger.
  • **For positions requiring participation in aircraft operation:**
* Possess a valid FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate. * Pass recurrent medical examinations as prescribed by the FAA.
  • **For positions not requiring a Second-Class Medical Certificate:**
* Provide documentation from a board-certified physician verifying minimal medical requirements. * Individuals not meeting minimums may receive an individualized assessment to determine the ability to perform essential functions.

  • *Aviation Safety Inspector (Operations) - General Aviation Specifics:**
  • **Experience:**
* Minimum one year of specialized experience (equivalent to FV-I/FG-13) in general aviation certification, inspection, and surveillance. * Minimum 1,500 total flight hours. * Minimum 100 flight hours within the last three years. * Minimum 200 hours of flight instruction given in an aircraft.
  • **Certifications & Ratings:**
* Valid, unexpired Flight Instructor Certificate with single and multi-engine airplane and instrument airplane ratings. * Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate or a Commercial Pilot Certificate with instrument airplane rating. * Possession of single and multi-engine land airplane ratings. * Valid FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate.
  • **Flight History:**
* Demonstrated professional flying skill, as evidenced by a flight check to Commercial Pilot Certificate with an instrument rating. * Not more than two flying accidents in the last five years where applicant's pilot error was involved.
