Join our team as an Aviation Safety Inspector, where you will ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance within aviation operations. This role demands a deep understanding of aviation regulations, strong technical expertise, and the ability to apply innovative solutions to complex challenges.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • **Regulatory Assessment:** Evaluate technical procedures, policy changes, new legislation, and emerging technologies to determine their impact on aviation delegation programs.
  • **Problem Solving:** Develop and implement advanced, innovative solutions for intricate aviation issues.
  • **Airworthiness Oversight (for Airworthiness roles):** Oversee the maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems, including certifying their airworthiness.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • *General Requirements (All Positions):**
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Fluency in English.
  • No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance.
  • Fewer than two Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) violations in the past 5 years.
  • *Medical Requirements:**
  • Physically able to perform duties safely (with or without reasonable accommodation).
  • Good distant vision (corrective lenses permitted) and ability to read typewritten print.
  • Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aids permitted).
  • No physical conditions that would pose a hazard or interfere with flying as a passenger in various aircraft.
  • *For roles requiring aircraft operation:* Must possess a valid FAA second-class medical certificate and pass recurrent medical examinations.
  • *For other roles:* Medical clearance from a board-certified physician is required; individuals not meeting minimums will undergo an individualized assessment.
  • *Specialized Experience (Equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 Level):**
  • Minimum of one year of specialized experience demonstrating mastery and application of aviation laws and regulations.
  • Experience assessing technical procedures, policy changes, new legislation, and technology impact on delegation programs.
  • Proven ability to solve technologically advanced problems with innovative approaches.
  • *Specific Requirements for Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness):**
  • **FAA Mechanic Certificate** with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
  • Direct experience in the maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems, with responsibility for certifying airworthiness.
  • Maintenance experience with aircraft 12,500 pounds or less maximum certificated takeoff weight.
  • Recent aircraft maintenance experience (within the last 3 years) from a repair station, air carrier/airline facility, military repair facility, or government agency.
  • *Preferred Qualification:**
  • Experience providing oversight of designees.
