## Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness)

Join our team as an Aviation Safety Inspector, ensuring the airworthiness and safety of general aviation aircraft. This critical role involves applying your expertise in either avionics or general maintenance, adhering to strict regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement in aviation safety.

### Key Responsibilities:

  • **For Avionics Specialists:**
* Perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of installed aircraft avionics systems. * Conduct work within a repair station, air carrier/military facility, or government agency (within the last 3 years).
  • **For Maintenance Specialists:**
* Execute maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems, with responsibility for certifying airworthiness. * Perform maintenance on aircraft 12,500 pounds or less maximum certificated takeoff weight. * Conduct work in a repair station, air carrier/military facility, or government agency (within the last 3 years).
  • **General to all roles:**
* Collect and analyze operational and strategic aviation data/intelligence. * Develop and implement solutions for emerging aviation technologies. * Lead major change initiatives, including policy and procedure revisions. * Communicate effectively and influence outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.

### Qualifications:

  • **Specialized Experience:**
* Minimum one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I FG/GS-13 grade levels, demonstrating: * Extensive knowledge of general aviation civil aircraft operations. * Proficiency in collecting and analyzing aviation intelligence/data. * Proven ability to develop new approaches for emerging aviation technology. * Experience leading major change initiatives resulting in new/revised policies. * Extensive experience in communicating and influencing stakeholders.
  • **Specific to Maintenance Specialists:**
* FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Power Plant ratings.

### General Requirements:

  • Valid State driver's license.
  • Fluency in the English language.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No more than two separate incidents involving Federal aviation regulation violations in the last 5 years.
  • No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance.
### Medical Requirements:

Applicants must be physically able to perform duties safely and efficiently (with or without reasonable accommodation).

  • Good distant vision in each eye and ability to read typewritten characters (glasses/contacts permitted).
  • Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aid permitted).
  • No physical condition that would cause hazard to self or others, or interfere with flying as a passenger in various aircraft.
  • **If requiring participation in aircraft operation:**
* Possess a valid FAA second-class medical certificate. * Pass recurrent FAA medical examinations.
  • **If not requiring participation in aircraft operation:**
* Provide documentation from a board-certified physician certifying minimal medical requirements are met, or * Undergo an individualized assessment if minimal medical requirements are not met but are otherwise qualified.
