Summary

Rotorcraft-Helicopter Aviation Safety Inspector oversees regulatory compliance and provides expert technical guidance for aviation organizations.

  • *Rotorcraft-Helicopter Flight Oversight Aviation Safety Inspector**
Join our team as a Rotorcraft-Helicopter Flight Oversight Aviation Safety Inspector. In this critical role, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of the aviation industry, safety protocols, and federal aviation laws to ensure compliance and uphold safety standards. You will monitor operations, issue certifications, and provide expert technical guidance to aviation organizations and industry partners.

  • Please Note: This position does not involve acting as a required flight crewmember or safety pilot, nor does it include pilot evaluation or testing functions.*
  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety, federal laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Monitor aviation organizations and issue necessary certificates.
  • Provide authoritative technical guidance and operational control to ensure compliance with helicopter regulatory requirements (e.g., CFR Parts 27, 29, 61, 133, 135, 136, 137, 141).
  • *General Requirements:**
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid State driver's license.
  • Fluency in the English language.
  • No more than two Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations violations in the last five years.
  • No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance.
  • *Medical Requirements:**
  • Physically able to perform duties safely and efficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Good distance vision in each eye, able to read typewritten characters (glasses/contact lenses permitted).
  • Ability to hear the conversational voice (hearing aid permitted).
  • No physical conditions that would pose a hazard or interfere with occupying a flight deck observer's seat or cabin passenger seat in various aircraft.
  • *Specific Rotorcraft-Helicopter Qualifications:**
  • **Pilot Certifications:**
* Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with a Rotorcraft-Helicopter rating or * Commercial Pilot Certificate with a Rotorcraft-Helicopter rating and an Instrument-Helicopter rating.
  • **Flight Instructor Experience:**
* Valid or expired Flight Instructor Certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter category rating or experience serving as an instructor in an approved program (e.g., 14 CFR Part 121, 135, 141, 142, or Uniformed Services) providing instruction in Rotorcraft-Helicopter or an approved flight simulation training device. * Minimum of 200 hours of flight instruction in a Rotorcraft-Helicopter or approved flight simulation training device.
  • **Flight Hours:**
* Minimum 1,500 total flight hours as pilot-in-command or second-in-command. * At least 1,000 of these hours must be in helicopters.
  • **Professional Experience:**
* Three years of experience working in an organization with an air carrier, commercial operator, air agency certificate, or an organization involved in airmen certification or aircraft operations. * Not more than two flying accidents in the last five years involving pilot error.

  • *Specialized Experience (for FG-14 Level):**
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 grade levels. This includes:
* Assisting, conducting, or performing technical functions on certification activities for CFR Part 27 (Normal Category) and Part 29 (Transport Category) Rotorcraft. * Supporting helicopter-specific CFR Part 135, 61, 141, 133, 136, and 137 operations, including helicopter restricted category operations. * Monitoring and issuing certificates to large, complex aviation organizations or several smaller comparable organizations. * Providing expert technical guidance and operational control, ensuring compliance with helicopter regulatory requirements.
