Summary
Aviation Safety Inspector ensures air carrier avionics systems and operations comply with federal safety regulations through inspections and investigations.
We are seeking a highly skilled Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness) with a focus on Air Carrier Avionics. This role involves ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of avionics systems and operations within aviation organizations.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Monitor, plan, and execute inspection programs for air carrier avionics.
- Evaluate aviation organizations to ensure proper staffing, equipment, training programs, record-keeping systems, and facilities meet all regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough enforcement investigations and prepare detailed reports with disposition recommendations.
- *General Requirements:**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid State driver's license.
- Fluency in English.
- No more than two Federal aviation regulation violations within the last 5 years.
- No chemical dependencies or drug abuse interfering with job performance.
- *Medical Requirements:**
- Physically capable of safely and efficiently performing inspector duties.
- Good distant vision in each eye (corrective lenses permitted).
- Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aids permitted).
- No physical conditions posing a hazard to self or others, or interfering with flying as a passenger.
- **For positions requiring aircraft operation:** Possess a valid second-class FAA medical certificate and pass recurrent medical examinations.
- **For positions not requiring aircraft operation:** Provide physician documentation of meeting minimum medical requirements, or undergo an individualized assessment if requirements are not fully met.
- *Specialized Avionics Experience (Required):**
- Maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of installed avionics systems on aircraft.
- Avionics maintenance experience on aircraft exceeding 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight.
- Recent (within the last 3 years) avionics work experience (including supervision or auditing) in a repair station, air carrier repair facility, military repair facility, or local, state, or Federal governmental agency.
- Experience with Part 121 Avionics.
- *FG-13 Level Requirements (in addition to above):**
- One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/FG-12 level as an Aviation Safety Inspector, Air Carrier Avionics. This includes: monitoring inspection programs, ensuring organizational compliance with regulations, and conducting enforcement investigations.
