Job Description

Summary

Seeking an Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness) to ensure aircraft airworthiness, requiring an A&P certificate and specialized maintenance experience.

The Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness) ensures the safety and airworthiness of aircraft, with a primary focus on air carrier maintenance programs. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems and strict adherence to regulatory compliance.

  • *Key Responsibilities & Experience:**
  • Perform and oversee maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and systems on multi-engine aircraft (over 12,500 lbs MTOW) under established airworthiness maintenance programs.
  • Certify the airworthiness of airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems.
  • Contribute to technical functions related to the certification of CFR Part 25 transport aircraft and multi-engine turbojet aircraft.
  • Support maintenance program activities for CFR Part 121 air carriers/air operators.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • *General Requirements:**
  • **Aviation Regulations:** No more than two Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) violations within the last 5 years.
  • **Driver's License:** Possess a valid state driver's license.
  • **Language:** Fluent in the English language.
  • **Dependence:** Absence of chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could impair job performance.
  • **Education:** High school diploma or equivalent.
  • *Medical Requirements:**
  • **Physical Ability:** Capable of performing duties safely and efficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • **Vision:** Good distant vision in each eye and ability to read typewritten text (corrective lenses permitted).
  • **Hearing:** Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aid permitted).
  • **Physical Condition:** No conditions that pose a hazard or interfere with flying as a passenger in various aircraft.
  • **For Positions Requiring Aircraft Operation:** Must hold a valid FAA second-class medical certificate and pass recurrent medical examinations.
  • **For Positions Not Requiring Aircraft Operation:** Provide documentation from a board-certified physician confirming minimum medical requirements, or undergo an individualized assessment if initial requirements are not met.
  • *Specialized Experience & Certifications:**
  • **Experience Level:** At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I or FG/GS-13 grade level.
  • **Recent Experience:** Aircraft maintenance work experience obtained within the last 3 years.
  • **Work Environment:** Experience must be from a repair station, air carrier/airline repair facility, military repair facility, or local, state, or Federal governmental agency.
  • **Certifications:** Possess an FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
