Join our team as an Aviation Safety Inspector (Flight Oversight) to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance within the aviation industry.

  • *About the Role:**
This critical role involves monitoring the activities of air carriers and commercial operators, ensuring strict adherence to federal regulations, authorized programs, and sound safety practices. You will interpret and apply aviation regulations, particularly 14 CFR Part 121, and be responsible for certifying and overseeing complex aviation organizations.

  • *Key Responsibilities (FG-14 Level):**
  • Interpret and apply federal regulations, policies, and procedures for air carrier and commercial aviation operations.
  • Monitor organizations to ensure compliance with authorized programs, federal regulations, and safety standards.
  • Execute assignments requiring expert knowledge of air carrier aircraft flight operations.
  • Monitor and issue certificates to large or multiple complex aviation organizations.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • **Flight Experience:**
* Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate. * Minimum 1,500 total flight hours. * At least 1 year of pilot experience in multi-engine aircraft exceeding 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight. * No more than 2 pilot-error flight accidents within the last 5 years.
  • **Professional Experience:**
* 3 years of experience with an air carrier, commercial operator, air agency, or an organization involved in airman certification or aircraft operation. * At least 1 year of this experience must be with an organization that operated multi-engine aircraft over 12,500 pounds maximum takeoff weight.
  • **Specialized Experience (FG-14):**
* One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to an FG-13 Aviation Safety Inspector, demonstrating proficiency in the key responsibilities listed above. * *Note: Recency of specialized experience is waived for current FAA employees in the 1825 series.*

  • *Medical Requirements:**

Applicants must be physically able to perform duties safely and efficiently, meeting the following criteria:

  • Good distant vision in each eye, able to read typewritten characters (glasses/contact lenses permitted).
  • Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aid permitted).
  • No physical condition that would pose a hazard to self or others, or interfere with flying as a passenger in various aircraft.
