## Aviation Safety Inspector (Air Carrier - Flight Oversight)

Join our team to ensure the highest standards of air carrier flight safety and regulatory compliance. This critical role involves providing expert technical guidance and operational control within Flight Standards organizations and the aviation industry.

### Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide authoritative expert technical guidance to Flight Standards organizations and industry partners.
  • Exercise operational control to ensure strict compliance with applicable federal aviation regulatory requirements.
### Minimum Qualifications:
  • **Flight Experience:**
* At least one year of pilot experience in multi-engine aircraft exceeding 12,500 lbs maximum certificated takeoff weight. * Minimum 1,500 total flight hours. * Not more than two flying accidents in the last five years where applicant's pilot error was involved.
  • **Professional Experience:**
* Three years of experience within an air carrier, commercial operator, air agency, or an organization that operated aircraft or certified airmen. * At least one year of this experience must be with an organization operating multi-engine aircraft over 12,500 lbs MTOW. * One year of specialized experience (equivalent to FG/GS-13 level) demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position, specifically providing expert technical guidance and operational control for regulatory compliance within Flight Standards.
  • **Certifications:**
* Hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate, or * Hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine land and instrument ratings and be eligible for an ATP Certificate.

### Basic Eligibility Requirements:

  • Valid State driver's license.
  • Fluency in the English language.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Not more than two separate incidents involving Federal aviation regulations violations in the last 5 years.
  • No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance.
### Medical Requirements:
  • Physically able to perform duties safely and efficiently.
  • Good distant vision in each eye (glasses/contacts permitted) and ability to read typewritten materials without strain.
  • Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aid permitted).
  • No physical conditions that would create a hazard or interfere with occupying a flight deck observer's seat (jumpseat) or cabin passenger seat in various aircraft.
  • *Note:** Recency of specialized experience requirements is waived for current and former FAA employees in the 1825 series for internal placement actions.
