Summary
Lead and manage a specialty audiology program as a Clinical Specialist, diagnosing and treating hearing/vestibular disorders within the VA.
Join our team as a Clinical Specialist Audiologist (GS-13), playing a critical role in diagnosing, treating, and managing hearing and vestibular disorders within the VA healthcare system. This full-performance position involves leading and managing a specialty audiology program.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, develop, implement, and manage a specialized audiology program.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to interdisciplinary teams and support staff.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for your specialty program.
- Evaluate program effectiveness, monitor progress, and ensure goals are met.
- Independently diagnose the nature, type, and severity of hearing/communication/vestibular disorders.
- Apply contemporary audiological treatments to diverse patient populations.
- Counsel patients and their families regarding disorder management.
- Provide expert professional advice and consultation to other healthcare professionals.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- **Education:** Doctor of Audiology (AuD) or a directly related doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
- **Licensure:** Full, current, and unrestricted doctoral-level audiology license in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- **Citizenship:** U.S. Citizenship is required (exceptions per VA policy).
- **Language:** Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- *Experience Levels:**
- **Audiologist (GS-12):** Minimum of one year of professional audiology experience post-doctoral degree.
- **Clinical Specialist Audiologist (GS-13 - Full Performance):** At least two years of professional audiology experience, including one year comparable to the GS-12 level, with demonstrated advanced knowledge in a focused specialty area.
- *Key Skills:**
- Advanced expertise in a specialized area of audiology practice.
- Strong program evaluation, coordination, and consensus-building abilities.
- Effective monitoring and reporting of program progress.
- Ability to serve as an SME and provide educational training.
- Proficiency in diagnostic assessment and treatment planning for complex hearing and vestibular conditions.
- Excellent patient and family counseling skills.
- Ability to independently apply professional audiological treatments.
- *Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to walk patients, stand for testing, carry light packages (1-2 lbs), near vision (correctable), and functional hearing (aid permitted).
