Summary
Lead a VLBI correlator team, driving development and operations with expertise in astronomy, geodesy, and programming.
## Correlator Team Lead (VLBI)
- *Overview:**
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead and manage a team of correlator scientists and engineers in VLBI correlator development and operational production.
- Coordinate team activities to enhance correlator efficiency, accuracy, throughput, and information assurance.
- Conduct independent research and represent the department at national and international scientific forums.
- Develop and implement long-range strategic plans for advanced scientific and technological initiatives.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level (Federal service or private/public sector equivalent) in correlator development and/or operational leadership.
- Professional knowledge of astronomy and/or geodesy, with a strong background in physics and mathematics.
- Demonstrated expertise in Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) techniques, including experience with DiFX correlators and HOPS geodetic VLBI software.
- Proficiency with standard Linux command line shells and tools.
- Strong computer programming knowledge, with the ability to quickly learn languages and frameworks used in VLBI processing.
- Proven project management skills for coordinating complex scientific and engineering tasks.
