Summary

Lead public/media relations, legislative affairs, and broad management for a nationwide law enforcement agency, driving efficiency and results.

As the Deputy Assistant Director, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for public/media relations, legislative affairs, and comprehensive management functions within a large, complex nationwide law enforcement organization.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • **Public & Legislative Affairs:** Strategically plan, direct, and oversee advanced public relations programs and legislative affairs activities for a large, complex law enforcement organization.
  • **Organizational Management:** Provide broad leadership in program planning, budget formulation, resource allocation, policy development, and complex problem-solving for an organization of nationwide scope.
  • **Team Leadership:** Lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, managing change, and driving the organization's vision and goals.
  • **Efficiency & Results:** Drive strategic resource management, budget efficiency, and continuous process improvement to achieve exceptional individual and organizational results aligned with strategic objectives.
  • **Expert Communication:** Deliver clear, concise, and persuasive oral and written communications on highly sensitive and controversial issues to diverse high-level audiences, including Congress, media, executives, and the public.
  • **Legislative Expertise:** Apply in-depth knowledge of the legislative process, including Congressional procedures and practices, for proposing and monitoring new legislation.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • **Extensive Senior Leadership Experience:** Proven experience applying advanced public/media relations principles, trends, and techniques to plan and direct public relations and legislative affairs programs for a large, complex, nationwide law enforcement organization.
  • **Broad Management Acumen:** Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, administering, and directing an organization, encompassing strategic planning, budget formulation, resource allocation, and policy development.
  • **Exceptional Communication Skills:** Expertise in delivering oral and written communication on extremely sensitive issues to a wide variety of audiences, including organizational leadership, Members of Congress, media, and the public.
  • **Legislative Process Knowledge:** Applied understanding of the legislative process, including Congressional procedures, practices, and guidelines for proposing and monitoring new legislation.
  • **Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs):** Demonstrated leadership ability across key executive competencies, including:
