Summary
Certified Air Traffic Controller to manage complex air traffic, ensuring safe and efficient operations for the Army.
The Department of Army is seeking a certified and experienced Air Traffic Controller (GS-10) to manage complex air traffic operations, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- *Responsibilities:**
- Provide Limited Radar Approach Control Terminal services.
- Sequence and separate aircraft for simultaneous arrivals and departures.
- Direct aircraft movement on runways and taxiways.
- Offer air traffic control assistance in accordance with Federal Administration Order 7110.65.
- Issue instructions and advisories for both Visual Flight Rule (VFR) and Instrument Flight Rule (IFR) traffic.
- *Requirements:**
- **Experience:** At least one year of specialized Air Traffic Control experience (equivalent to GS-09 level), including the responsibilities listed above.
- **Education/Certifications:** Graduate of a DoD component or FAA-approved formal Air Traffic Controller school. Must possess current Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS), Control Tower Operator (CTO), and/or Aviation Oversight (AOV) certifications.
- **Competencies:** Demonstrated proficiency in Oral Communication, Technical Competence, and Technical Credibility.
- **Federal Service (if applicable):** Current federal employees must have 52 weeks of service at the GS-09 level or equivalent within the last year.
- **Age Restriction:** Must be appointed to a first DoD Air Traffic Controller position by the last day of the month in which they become 36. Exceptions apply for preference-eligible veterans over 36 and individuals with prior DoD ATC service who can complete 20 years of covered service by age 56. Individuals aged 56 or older are not eligible.
- **Special Retirement:** This position falls under special retirement coverage, including additional contributions and mandatory separation/retirement at age 56 with 20 years of approved special retirement service.
