Accountant (Systems)

Join our team as an Accountant (Systems) to drive the development, enhancement, and management of complex financial systems. This role is crucial for ensuring robust financial operations, compliance, and effective risk management within the organization.

• *Key Responsibilities:**
• Lead the development of agency-wide financial management system requirements.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor on financial risk, identifying control gaps and mitigating exposure.
• Educate functional and financial divisions on financial impact and auditor expectations.
• Direct Business Process Reengineering (BPR) efforts for financial system upgrades and enhancements.
• Design and implement comprehensive solutions for audit findings and corrective action plans (CAP).
• Revise, design, and adapt complex accounting and financial management systems.
• *Qualifications:**
• *Education & Core Accounting Knowledge:**
• Bachelor's degree (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration) including or supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting (up to 6 hours of business law).

* **or** A combination of 4+ years of accounting experience, college-level education, and training demonstrating professional accounting knowledge.

• **Additionally, applicants must meet one of the following:**

* 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses. * Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification. * Equivalent professional accounting knowledge and experience, including substantial accounting coursework (e.g., 15 semester hours) combined with successful full-performance accounting work.

• *Specialized Experience:**
• Minimum of one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent in the private sector.
• This experience should include developing financial management system requirements, advising on financial risks, leading system upgrades, and designing solutions for audit findings.
