Job Description

Summary

Experienced Accountant/Auditor needed to manage financial operations, prepare reports, analyze statements, and advise on policies.

This role is for an Accountant/Auditor responsible for managing financial operations within a federal service environment. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and advisory skills.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Manage general ledger and financial accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and validate comprehensive financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial statements to identify trends and ensure integrity.
  • Provide expert guidance and advisement on accounting policies and procedures to personnel.
  • Resolve complex accounting issues and discrepancies efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and propose effective solutions.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • **Specialized Experience (GS-12 Equivalent):**
* One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-11 in the Federal Service, demonstrating proficiency in: maintaining general ledgers and accounts; preparing and validating financial reports; analyzing financial statements; advising on accounting policies; resolving complex accounting issues; and proposing process improvements. * *Note: This includes relevant paid and unpaid experience, such as volunteer work, with credit given for all qualifying experience based on hours worked.*

  • **Basic Education/Certifications:**
* **Option 1: Degree** * Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration) that includes or is supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in accounting (up to 6 hours in business law). * **Option 2: Combination of Education & Experience** * At least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge, *plus* one of the following: * 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing coursework (up to 6 hours in business law). * Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification obtained through written examination. * Completion of a degree with substantial accounting coursework (e.g., 15 semester hours), demonstrated successful full-performance level work in accounting, auditing, or a related field, *and* a determination by a panel of higher-level professional accountants/auditors that the applicant possesses equivalent breadth and depth of accounting knowledge.
