Summary
Drive business development and marketing initiatives, supporting client engagement and firm growth for a global law firm.
Mayer Brown, a leading international law firm, is seeking a Senior Specialist, Business Development & Marketing in Washington, D.C. This role advances strategic business development and marketing initiatives for global product, industry, and client teams, with a focus on Public Policy & Government and International Trade & Government Contracts practices.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Support and execute business plans and client strategies, tracking progress and communicating successes.
- Manage and promote thought leadership, including project management, data mining, and distribution across internal and external platforms (e.g., LinkedIn).
- Plan and execute direct marketing and business development programs, including podcasts, videos, seminars, and sponsorships, handling logistics and communications.
- Contribute to research, data analysis, directory submissions (e.g., Chambers), matter coding, and intranet content development.
- Collect and manage global transaction matter data, ensuring data quality and availability.
- Develop and maintain industry survey and directory ranking content; respond to related requests.
- Track global pipeline activities and conduct competitive intelligence for strategic planning.
- Review and update lawyer profiles and practice descriptions.
- Utilize CRM (InterAction) for business development activities, including reports and contact management.
- Support the development of client proposals, presentations, and marketing materials, including drafting, editing, and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Develop and maintain group-specific marketing content (brochures, website/blog content, social media posts).
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior department members.
- Manage projects independently, ensuring adherence to firm policies and best practices.
- *Qualifications:**
- **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or a related field requiring strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
- **Experience:** Minimum six years in a business development, marketing, and/or research-related role within professional services (e.g., law, accounting, consulting), with a preference for law firm experience.
- **Technical Skills:** Proficient in Microsoft Office; experienced with video conferencing; familiar with competitive intelligence databases (e.g., Manzama, Capital IQ, LexisNexis).
- **Performance Traits:** Strong written and oral communication, excellent interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, judgment, problem-solving, initiative, adaptability, attention to detail, and a client-service orientation. Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and work independently or as part of a team.
- *Compensation & Benefits:**
- The typical pay range for this position is $99,000 to $131,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
