Capital One is seeking a Senior Director, Content Design to lead and mature the content design discipline within our US Card and Small & Mid-Market Business design organization. This role focuses on creating memorable, meaningful product experiences that build the Capital One brand and drive business advantage.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* **Strategic Leadership:** Define vision and strategic direction for content design, fostering a thriving team and collaborating with cross-functional partners.
* **Content Excellence:** Establish consistent standards, best practices, and governance for content across end-to-end customer journeys (prospects, cardholders, small business owners, support agents).
* **Human-Centered Design:** Oversee content research frameworks to ensure data-driven, user-centered content experiences that are compelling, accurate, and accessible.
* **Business Impact:** Identify high-leverage opportunities, influence executive stakeholders, and lead highly complex projects that elevate experience excellence and business outcomes.
* **Design System Contribution:** Mature the company’s ability to leverage content design, improving the quality of tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems, including audits, taxonomy, guidelines, and governance models.
* **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Partner deeply with product, engineering, marketing, and analytics leaders to shape strategy, roadmaps, and operating models.
* **Executive Communication:** Present strategic, human-centered approaches to executive leaders, integrating design frameworks, data, and research to influence key decisions.
**Basic Qualifications:**
* 10+ years of experience in a content, strategy, or user experience design writing role.
* 3+ years of experience leading design teams.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* 12+ years of experience in content, strategy, or user experience design writing.
* 5+ years of experience leading design teams.
* Proven experience creating content standards and governance models for broad organizational scope.
* Experience building content testing protocols and frameworks to ensure data-driven content decisions.
* Proficiency across a design toolkit spanning content, product, service, and design strategy.
* Skilled at shaping scope with executive stakeholders and leading high-impact, complex projects.
* Deep experience partnering with diverse leadership across multiple business lines.
* Proficiency with web and mobile technologies, Figma, and business case development.
* Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Experience managing cross-functional teams.
