Job Description

Summary

Develop and transition scientific software for environmental prediction and forecast systems, including creating evaluation products.

We are seeking a skilled professional to develop and transition computer-based technologies for environmental prediction and forecast systems.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Develop computer-based technologies (e.g., scientific software, infrastructure) for environmental prediction systems (e.g., atmosphere, ocean, waves).
  • Facilitate the transition of new capabilities from research to operational use.
  • Develop verification, validation, and evaluation products for forecast systems (e.g., atmospheric, marine applications).
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • **Education:** A degree in Physical Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, including at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science (e.g., mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, electronics). A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience demonstrating proficiency in the responsibilities listed above. This includes developing scientific software for environmental prediction, facilitating research-to-operations transitions, and creating forecast system evaluation products.
  • **Note:** All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be considered.
