## General Attorney (Tax)

We are seeking a highly qualified General Attorney specializing in tax law to join our team. This role involves comprehensive legal work in federal and state tax matters, controversy, and complex legal analysis.

### Key Responsibilities & Focus Areas:

  • Handling tax practice and procedure issues at state and federal levels.
  • Managing tax controversy and administrative practice.
  • Preparing responses to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and related litigation.
  • Conducting in-depth research and analysis of complex legal issues (e.g., corporate law, business structuring, securities law, international law, intellectual property).
  • Litigating cases involving tax or other complex legal areas.
### Qualifications:

  • *Education:**
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
  • *Bar Membership:**
  • Active member in good standing of the bar of a U.S. State, Commonwealth, Territory, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
  • *Experience:**
  • **General Professional Legal Experience:** Minimum of 1 year.
  • **Specialized Professional Legal Tax Experience:**
* **For GS-13 Equivalent:** Minimum of 1 year of professional legal tax experience. * **For GS-14 Equivalent:** Minimum of 2 years of professional legal tax experience.
  • *Note:* All professional legal experience must be gained after Bar Admission.
  • *Education Substitution:**
  • An LL.M. degree in Tax, Public Law/Administrative Law/Regulation, or Bankruptcy Law/Insolvency Law may substitute for one year of the *general* legal experience requirement.
  • *Application Requirements:**
  • Your resume must clearly detail relevant experience, including dates (month/year) and hours worked per week.
  • Official transcripts are required if qualifying based on education.
  • Both paid and qualifying unpaid/volunteer experience will be credited.
