## Supervisory Clinical Laboratory Scientist (GS-12)
Join our team as a Supervisory Clinical Laboratory Scientist, leading day-to-day laboratory operations and ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance. This role involves both hands-on technical expertise and significant supervisory responsibilities, overseeing staff and managing critical laboratory functions.
### Key Responsibilities:
- **Supervision & Leadership:** Directly supervise staff, including assignment of work, performance evaluations, training, and disciplinary actions. Dedicate 25% or more of time to administrative and technical supervision, leading at least one GS-11 staff member.
- **Operational Oversight:** Independently manage laboratory operations across various specialties such as chemistry, microbiology, immunology, hematology, and immunohematology.
- **Quality & Compliance:** Develop, implement, and monitor laboratory quality management programs. Ensure strict adherence to Federal, state, and accrediting agency regulatory requirements.
- **Technical Expertise:** Perform, evaluate, interpret, and validate complex laboratory procedures and results. Conduct quality control, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
- **Strategic Planning:** Plan, organize, set goals, and conduct studies on technical and administrative challenges, including personnel, organizational structure, and new technology.
- **Resource Management:** Manage fiscal matters, forecast resource and equipment needs, and administer the allocated budget.
- **Collaboration & Education:** Collaborate in patient diagnosis and treatment. Provide education for laboratory professionals and the public.
- **Special Projects:** May lead specific laboratory projects such as safety officer, analyzer specialist, quality control specialist, or coordinate competency assessment programs.
- **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship.
- **Language Proficiency:** Proficient in spoken and written English.
- **Education:** A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- **Certification:** One of the following:
- **Experience:** At least one year of creditable experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, directly related to the position.
- In-depth knowledge of Federal, state, and laboratory accrediting agency regulatory requirements.
- Expertise in laboratory quality management principles and program establishment.
- Strong understanding of clinical laboratory technology concepts, principles, and methods.
- Proven leadership skills, including interpersonal relations and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to perform full supervisory duties, including staff selection and development.
- Capacity to plan, organize, set goals, and analyze technical/administrative problems.
- Skill in managing fiscal matters, resource forecasting, and budget administration.
