Distinguished Engineer - Marketing and Messaging

Capital One is seeking a Distinguished Engineer for our Marketing and Messaging organization in McLean, VA. This role involves leading technical innovation, defining the future of banking in the cloud, and optimizing business outcomes through strong technology solutions. You will operate as a key technical expert, driving engineering excellence and mentoring next-generation talent. **Key Responsibilities:** * Define and evangelize a bold technical vision for your domain. * Decompose complex problems into practical, operational solutions. * Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation. * Serve as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics (performance, scalability, operability). * Continuously learn and integrate advanced technical knowledge into the community. * Manage multiple projects, balancing time for maximum impact. * Act as a role model and mentor, coaching and strengthening technical expertise across engineering and product teams. * Explore new cloud technologies and identify applications for their potential. * Develop cloud patterns to enable emerging business initiatives. * Collaborate with tech leaders to drive strategic technology direction. * Evangelize cloud strategy, solutions, and best practices enterprise-wide. **Basic Qualifications:** * Bachelor’s Degree * At least 7 years of experience in solution architecture or software engineering * At least 2 years of AWS experience **Preferred Qualifications:** * Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field * 9+ years of experience in solution architecture or software engineering
