## Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Ancillary Testing Coordinator) GS-11/12
- *Overview:**
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and implement policies for ancillary testing procurement and services.
- Ensure CLIA licensure and maintain regulatory compliance for all off-site testing facilities (e.g., Community Based Outpatient Clinics).
- Serve as a recognized technical expert, providing authoritative advice, training, troubleshooting, and quality assessment for ancillary testing programs.
- Consult with clinical leadership to identify testing needs, analyze emerging trends, and integrate appropriate methods.
- Develop essential program materials, including technical bulletins, procedures, and training documents.
- Ensure accreditation and compliance with all regulatory agencies for patient testing, results reporting, and proficiency testing.
- Monitor and report on continuous performance improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate ancillary testing activities to assess ongoing compliance with established protocols.
- Identify, define, and resolve complex data and program-related issues within ancillary testing management.
- Perform and evaluate instruments, conduct validation studies, and recommend policy/protocol changes to correct deficiencies and improve the program.
- Develop and implement corrective actions for identified deficiencies.
- Coordinate inventory management, supply acquisition, and contracts related to ancillary testing.
- *Requirements:**
- **Citizenship:** U.S. Citizen.
- **Education:** Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- **Certification:**
- **Experience (for GS-12):** 1 year of creditable experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
- **Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):**
- *Physical Requirements:**
- Intermittent moderate lifting (15-44 lbs); light carrying (under 15 lbs).
- Frequent use of fingers, both hands required; walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to distinguish basic colors; near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; ability to read ordinary type and computer screens.
- Ability to hear (aid permitted) and work in an environment with constant noise.
- Requires working closely with others; high cognitive function in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities without loss of accuracy.
- Emotional stability to maintain self-control in difficult and stressful situations.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
