Lead tax law interpretation and strategy as an SES Associate Chief Counsel, requiring legal expertise and executive leadership.
## Associate Chief Counsel (ITA) - Senior Executive Service
This Senior Executive Service (SES) position seeks a highly experienced legal professional to provide critical tax law counsel and leadership within the Chief Counsel's office.
### Key Responsibilities:
- Develop nationwide legal strategies and offer dedicated support to top-ranking IRS officials.
- Provide high-quality legal advice and services to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Apply comprehensive professional knowledge of tax laws related to ITA subject matter.
- Possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) or LL.B. from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
- Be an active member in good standing of the bar of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
- **Senior Executive Service (SES) Requirement:** Demonstrate progressively responsible executive leadership and supervisory experience indicative of senior executive-level managerial capability (typically at the GS-15 level or equivalent in federal or private sector).
### Desired Qualifications:
- An LL.M. in Taxation.
- Seven (7) years of professional legal experience in tax law.
- A thorough understanding of the operations and organization of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Office of Chief Counsel.

- Comprehensive professional knowledge and application experience of tax laws affecting ITA subject matter (e.g., gross income, personal deductions, business expenses, like-kind exchanges, tax accounting methods, and tax procedure).
