## Associate Chief Counsel (ITA) - Senior Executive Service

This Senior Executive Service (SES) position seeks a highly experienced legal professional to provide critical tax law counsel and leadership within the Chief Counsel's office.

### Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop nationwide legal strategies and offer dedicated support to top-ranking IRS officials.
  • Provide high-quality legal advice and services to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Apply comprehensive professional knowledge of tax laws related to ITA subject matter.
### Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) or LL.B. from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
  • Be an active member in good standing of the bar of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
  • **Senior Executive Service (SES) Requirement:** Demonstrate progressively responsible executive leadership and supervisory experience indicative of senior executive-level managerial capability (typically at the GS-15 level or equivalent in federal or private sector).
* Experience supervising multiple employees through subordinate managers. * Proven ability in hiring, developing, and evaluating employees.

### Desired Qualifications:

  • An LL.M. in Taxation.
  • Seven (7) years of professional legal experience in tax law.
  • A thorough understanding of the operations and organization of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Office of Chief Counsel.

  • *Technical Qualifications (TQs):**
  • Ability to develop nationwide strategies and provide dedicated legal support/advice to high-profile IRS officials and internal/external customers.
  • Comprehensive professional knowledge and application experience of tax laws affecting ITA subject matter (e.g., gross income, personal deductions, business expenses, like-kind exchanges, tax accounting methods, and tax procedure).
