Job Description
Maintain and manage complex automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems supporting the National Airspace System.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is seeking an Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (FV-2101) to support the National Airspace System (NAS). This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and managing complex automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Perform duties related to systems, subsystems, and equipment supporting NAS operations.
* Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment and systems.
* Apply knowledge of basic electricity, electronic theory, and mathematical principles.
* Utilize specialized tools, materials, and test equipment.
* Manage and integrate civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems.
**Qualifications & Experience Levels:**
**FV-F Level:**
* Minimum 3 years full-time (40 hrs/week) general work experience demonstrating basic knowledge of electronics, mathematics, computers, aeronautics, or practical understanding of automated systems operation, integration, management, and maintenance.
* Relevant experience includes roles such as computer specialist, electronics technician, telecommunications specialist, or engineer.
**FV-G Level:**
* Minimum 1 year specialized work experience (equivalent to next lower level) with:
* Extensive knowledge of basic electricity and electronic theory.
* Aptitude for solving mathematical problems (algebra, trigonometry).
* Proficiency in using tools, materials, and specialized test equipment for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic systems.
* Experience in the technology, system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems.
**FV-H, FV-I, FV-J Levels:**
* Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in technology, system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems.
* Progression to these levels generally requires experience at the immediate lower pay band/level (e.g., FV-H requires experience at FV-G equivalent).
**General Requirements:**
* Valid Driver's License is required.
