Job Description
Manage comprehensive law enforcement, security, and risk mitigation programs, requiring specialized experience and federal law enforcement qualifications.
This role seeks a highly experienced professional to manage and enhance critical security and law enforcement programs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in program development, personnel direction, and security evaluations within a law enforcement context.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Develop and implement comprehensive policies and procedures for law enforcement, security, and risk mitigation programs.
* Direct and oversee personnel engaged in law enforcement and facility security operations.
* Conduct thorough evaluations of security programs to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
* Effectively communicate program decisions, updates, and findings to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Maintain active law enforcement qualifications and authority, providing investigative and security services as required.
* Carry and maintain proficiency with a firearm as an essential part of duties.
**Required Qualifications:**
* **Specialized Experience:** A minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (or comparable public/private sector experience), demonstrating proficiency in:
* Developing law enforcement, security, and risk mitigation policies.
* Directing law enforcement and security personnel.
* Conducting security program evaluations.
* Communicating program information to stakeholders.
* **Federal Employees:** Must meet competitive merit promotion time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade).
* **Law Enforcement Training:** Successful completion of designated training programs such as the Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP), Uniformed Police Training Program (UPTP) at FLETC, and Agency Individual Training Program (AITP), or equivalent.
* **Medical & Physical:** Ability to pass a comprehensive pre-employment medical examination assessing physical fitness for strenuous and demanding law enforcement duties.
* **Firearms Eligibility:** Must be eligible to carry a firearm and maintain proficiency; ineligible if convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence (Lautenberg Amendment).
* **Driver's License:** Possess and maintain a valid driver's license, a safe driving record, and medical qualification for operating a motor vehicle.
**Special Conditions:**
* **Travel:** Frequent travel may be required.
* **Work Schedule:** Must be available for overtime and shift work.
* **Mobility:** Required to sign a mobility agreement, allowing for reassignments to different geographic locations.
* **OSHA Compliance:** Adherence to all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
