## Aviation Safety Inspector (General Aviation Operations)
Join our team as an Aviation Safety Inspector specializing in General Aviation Operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and safety standards. This critical role involves oversight, investigation, and enforcement activities within the aviation sector.
### Key Responsibilities:
* Conducting certification processes for aviation entities.
* Performing surveillance to ensure compliance with Federal aviation regulations.
* Leading investigations into aviation incidents and violations.
* Executing enforcement activities to uphold safety standards.
### Minimum Qualifications:
**General Requirements:**
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Valid State driver's license.
* Fluency in the English language.
* No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance.
* Not more than two separate incidents involving Federal aviation regulations violations in the last 5 years.
**Experience & Specialized Knowledge:**
* At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS/FG-13 as an Aviation Safety Inspector. This experience includes assisting, conducting, or performing technical functions related to certification, surveillance, investigation, and enforcement activities.
* Recency of specialized experience is waived for current FAA employees in the 1825 series.
**Pilot & Flight Requirements (Specific to General Aviation Operations):**
* **Certificates:**
* Valid, unexpired Flight Instructor Certificate with single and multi-engine airplane and instrument airplane ratings.
* Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate OR a Commercial Pilot Certificate with an instrument airplane rating. (ATP Certificates are preferred for this announcement.)
* **Flight Hours:**
* Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours.
* Minimum of 100 flight hours within the last 3 years.
* Minimum of 200 hours of flight instruction given in an aircraft.
* **Skills:** Professional flying skill, demonstrated by a flight check to Commercial Pilot Certificate with an instrument rating.
* **Ratings:** Possession of single and multi-engine land airplane ratings.
* **Accident Record:** Not more than 2 flying accidents in the last 5 years in which the applicant's pilot error was involved.
### Medical Requirements:
* Applicants must be physically able to perform duties safely and efficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation.
* Ability to perform duties that may require flying as a passenger in various aircraft.
* Good distant vision in each eye and ability to read typewritten characters (with glasses/contact lenses permitted).
* Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aids permitted).
* No physical condition that would cause a hazard to self or others.
* Possess a valid second-class FAA medical certificate.
* Successfully pass recurrent medical examinations as prescribed by the FAA.
* Tentatively selected applicants will undergo a pre-employment medical assessment and may be required to provide physician documentation.
