Aviation Safety Inspector (Operations) ensuring air carrier compliance and safety; requires extensive pilot and flight training experience.
## Aviation Safety Inspector (Operations) Responsible for ensuring air carrier safety and regulatory compliance through comprehensive oversight. ### Key Responsibilities: * Conduct flight crew training and testing, adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and FAA-approved programs. * Perform enforcement investigations, preparing detailed reports and disposition recommendations. * Monitor assigned air carrier ground and flight training activities. ### General Requirements: * Valid State Driver's License. * Fluency in English. * High School Diploma or equivalent. * No more than two FAR violations in the last 5 years. * No chemical dependencies or drug abuse interfering with job performance. ### Medical & Physical Standards: * Ability to safely and efficiently perform job duties. * Good distant vision and ability to read typewritten characters (with corrective lenses permitted). * Ability to hear conversational voice (with hearing aid permitted). * No physical conditions posing a hazard or interfering with flying as a passenger. * **For positions requiring aircraft operation:** Possess a valid second-class FAA medical certificate and pass recurrent examinations. * **Alternative (if 2nd class medical not required):** Provide board-certified physician documentation or receive an individualized assessment for minimal medical requirements. ### Specialized Experience & Pilot Qualifications: * Minimum one year of specialized experience (equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-12 Aviation Safety Inspector), which may include: * Conducting flight crew training and testing. * Performing enforcement investigations and reporting. * Monitoring air carrier ground and flight training. * **Pilot Experience (Air Carrier Operations Focus):** * Minimum 1,500 total flight hours. * Minimum 100 flight hours during the last 3 years. * At least 1 year of pilot experience in multi-engine aircraft (>12,500 lbs max takeoff weight). * Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate OR Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Airplane Rating. * Professional flying skill demonstrated by an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Standard simulator check. * Not more than two pilot-error involved flying accidents in the last 5 years. **Note:** Recency of specialized experience and the valid second-class FAA medical certificate requirement may be waived for current 1825 series employees.
