Job Description
Ensure aircraft airworthiness and safety as an Aviation Safety Inspector specializing in avionics system inspection and incident investigation.
The Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness) role focuses on aircraft avionics safety, ensuring compliance and investigating incidents.
**Core Responsibilities:**
* Investigate and report on aviation accidents, incidents, and violations.
* Perform inspections related to aircraft avionics systems.
**General Requirements:**
* Valid State driver's license.
* Fluency in English.
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Not more than two separate incidents involving Federal Aviation Regulations violations in the last 5 years.
* No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance.
**Medical Requirements:**
* Good distant vision in each eye (glasses/contacts permitted).
* Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aid permitted).
* No physical condition that would pose a hazard to self or others, or interfere with flying as a passenger.
* For positions requiring aircraft operation: Possess a valid second-class FAA medical certificate and pass recurrent medical exams.
**Specialized Experience (Equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-12 grade level):**
* Minimum one year of experience as an Aviation Safety Inspector.
* Aircraft avionics experience involving maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of installed avionics systems.
* Avionics maintenance experience on aircraft over 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight.
* Recent (within the last 3 years) aircraft avionics work experience (including supervision or auditing) in a repair station, air carrier repair facility, military repair facility, or governmental agency.
* Experience investigating and reporting on accidents, incidents, and violations.
**Note:** Recency of specialized experience and the need for a valid second-class FAA medical certificate is waived for current 1825 series employees.
