The Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness) role focuses on aircraft avionics safety, ensuring compliance and investigating incidents. **Core Responsibilities:** * Investigate and report on aviation accidents, incidents, and violations. * Perform inspections related to aircraft avionics systems. **General Requirements:** * Valid State driver's license. * Fluency in English. * High School diploma or equivalent. * Not more than two separate incidents involving Federal Aviation Regulations violations in the last 5 years. * No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance. **Medical Requirements:** * Good distant vision in each eye (glasses/contacts permitted). * Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aid permitted). * No physical condition that would pose a hazard to self or others, or interfere with flying as a passenger. * For positions requiring aircraft operation: Possess a valid second-class FAA medical certificate and pass recurrent medical exams. **Specialized Experience (Equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-12 grade level):** * Minimum one year of experience as an Aviation Safety Inspector. * Aircraft avionics experience involving maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of installed avionics systems. * Avionics maintenance experience on aircraft over 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight. * Recent (within the last 3 years) aircraft avionics work experience (including supervision or auditing) in a repair station, air carrier repair facility, military repair facility, or governmental agency. * Experience investigating and reporting on accidents, incidents, and violations. **Note:** Recency of specialized experience and the need for a valid second-class FAA medical certificate is waived for current 1825 series employees.
