This Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness) role ensures aviation safety through comprehensive oversight, particularly in aircraft avionics. **Key Responsibilities:** * Investigate and report on aviation accidents, incidents, and violations. * Perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of installed avionics systems on aircraft. **Essential Qualifications:** * **Experience:** * Minimum one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 grade level. * Specialized experience includes investigating and reporting aviation incidents. * **For Avionics (Airworthiness) Specifics:** * Aircraft avionics experience in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. * Avionics maintenance experience on aircraft exceeding 12,500 lbs maximum takeoff weight. * Recent (last 3 years) avionics work experience (including supervision or auditing) in a repair station, air carrier, military, or government facility. * **General Requirements:** * Valid State Driver's License. * Fluency in English. * High School Diploma or equivalent. * Not more than two separate Federal Aviation Regulation violations in the last 5 years. * No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance. * **Medical Requirements:** * Physically able to perform duties safely and efficiently. * Good distant vision in each eye (glasses/contacts permitted). * Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aid permitted). * No physical conditions posing a hazard or interfering with flying as a passenger. * **For positions requiring aircraft operation:** Possess a valid second-class FAA medical certificate and pass recurrent medical examinations. * **For positions not requiring second-class medical:** Provide documentation from a board-certified physician or undergo an individualized assessment for medical fitness. **Note:** Recency of specialized experience and the requirement for a valid second-class FAA medical certificate are waived for employees currently in the 1825 series.
